Becoming a Psychologist for me has been a journey of discovering what it means to honour and accept what is truly inside of myself, to practice unconditional positive regard, to step into vulnerability, to practice compassion for the Self/other, and to listen to not only what is spoken, but what can often be unsaid or unspeakable. I am most passionate about assisting my clients to find their voice, and to hold a space in which they can safely explore, understand, express, nurture, and heal.

When Thania and I first created Little Window, we wanted to reach out to our clients in a way which allowed our own sense of unknowing, vulnerability, and humanness to be shared. Historically and traditionally, the school of psychology taught us ‘separation from clients’, to convey that we are the expert, and to view discomfort or vulnerability as cause for mental unwellness and instability. Intuitively this made little sense to us as we progressed in our field and found that there were limitations in how we could connect and work effectively with our clients.

We learnt that who we are, not necessarily what we knew, made more of a difference for our clients. We learnt that building deep connections by being there wholeheartedly for our clients helped to ease discomfort and pain. We began to value the vulnerability within ourselves and it became a pathway into exploring the challenges and difficulties our clients faced. Little Window became and is an extension of who we are- who I am as an individual but also as a Psychologist.

I am calm, intuitive, and gentle, yet clear and decisive when working with my clients. It is in my nature to be playful and humorous, but I am also grounded, respectful, and focused in my approach. It is important for me to remain curious, open, and engaged, while being with you in a way that is authentic and unique to you and your individual needs.
