Hello and welcome.

From a young age, I’ve always been deeply curious about people’s stories. I have found joy in hearing others share the details of their lives—their daily experiences and the emotions that shaped them. Whether it was my mum sitting at the kitchen table with her friends or listening to strangers' encounters, I was always fascinated. That curiosity is still very much a part of who I am today.

My name is Sandra, and I am an accredited mental health social worker and psychotherapist. From the start, I knew I wanted to work with people on a deep, meaningful level. When I was finishing school, I discussed studying psychology with my parents. However, at the time (it was the 1980s), they didn't believe it was a suitable profession for a woman. They encouraged me to choose something more practical, something that would integrate better with potential future parenting. I was just 17 years old, and their perspective was a product of the era. So, I chose the practical path, but my desire to pursue psychology never left me.

After ten years of reflection, I finally enrolled in the course, but I soon realised that studying psychology alone left me feeling uninspired and constrained. It wasn't until I discovered Social Work and Psychotherapy that I truly began to understand how I wanted to work with others.  These courses helped me lean into my own story, my imperfections, my avoidances, and ultimately studying about feminist perspectives reconstructed my self-identity from the inside out.

As a practitioner, I am attuned, grounded, curious, intuitive, and compassionate. I believe that embracing my own vulnerability and humanity helps me connect with clients in a more genuine way, supporting them on their unique healing journeys.

The majority of the frameworks I use are suited to persons over the age of 18. My areas of interest include:

  • Self identity and self esteem

  • Emotional regulation

  • Co-dependence/boundaries

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Sexual trauma

  • Womens Issues

  • Adjustment issues

  • Attachment disorders/relational trauma

  • Grief and Loss

  • Parenting Issues

  • Couples therapy

  • Somatic work

Relational trauma can profoundly affect our sense of identity and self-esteem. The way we move through time and space shapes how we relate to ourselves and the world around us, including our relationships with others. With a trauma-informed approach, I have developed a deep understanding of how trauma subtly influences our relationships and daily lives.

I integrate a range of therapeutic frameworks—including neuroscience, psychodynamic theory, feminist perspectives, and emotionally focused therapy—to provide a holistic, sustainable path to healing. This approach combines talk therapy with a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment, evidence-based interventions, somatic (body) psychotherapy, and healing through the therapeutic relationship. And yes, there’s often a bit of tea-drinking involved!

My role is to help you identify and break old patterns of self-sabotage or avoidance. Together, we will work toward cultivating greater awareness, resilience, autonomy, and the ability to thrive and flourish.
