Hi there, I’m Sarah.
I have always had an interest in people’s stories and how our minds seek to make meaning of our human experience. I am a warm, empathetic and compassionate person and I believe counselling can be a magical space for creative expression, new perspectives and healing. I am a firm advocate that throughout our human lives, there are opportunities for meaningful counselling work, growth and healing across all ages and stages.
Within my sessions I strive to understand you as a unique individual and connect with you to deeply understand your lived experience, innate wisdom and personal strengths. It is important to me that you feel that our counselling space is safe, authentic and collaborative.
My counselling style integrates different therapeutic frameworks, including feminist-based practices, narrative therapy approaches and supporting an understanding of trauma presentations in the body. I think the counselling process is a sacred space where we are able to explore vulnerability, identity and relationships to find new meanings, strengths and ways to connect with Self and the world. With my background in Philosophy, I enjoy conversations about our social systems, their influences, and discussing acts of resistance to systems of power and oppression.
I have experience with and enjoy working with adolescents, young people and adults.
The areas I am passionate about include:
Sexual violence and abuse counselling
Domestic violence support
Trauma
Self harm and suicidal ideation
Boundaries and assertiveness
Identity and self-empowerment
Relationships
Sexuality
Grief and loss
Anxiety and depression
Outside of being a therapist, I am a mother to my child and my dog Pickles. I love connecting with nature, bush walking and going on travel adventures. Cooking is a true love of mine - I am happiest when exploring new recipes and cuisines, cooking too much and feeding the people I love. I enjoy the arts, especially theatre, and devouring a good book.
I look forward to connecting with you at Little Window.
